Torquay United have been handed an away trip to Basingstoke Town in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying tie.

Following the draw for the next round of the competition, Torquay face Basingstoke on Saturday October 24.

Speaking to the Official Site following the draw being known, player manager Kevin Nicholson explained that it was a match we certainly wouldn’t be ‘taking lightly’ because it is a competition we would like to progress in both from a playing point of view but also financially.

He also expected it to be a tough game inspite of the fact that their campaign so far in 2015-16 has had a slow start.

‘We certainly won`t be taking the game lightly. They haven`t started the season particularly well, but I know from first-hand experience that they have some good players there. We will approach the game with the right mindset as we are keen to go on a run in this competition because of the benefits that it will bring to the club both on and off-the-field. The FA Cup will always be a special competition and we are looking forward to the tie, but before that we have important League business to contend with.’

Nicholson does know them pretty well as earlier this campaign he scored for Bath City against them.

Torquay have also been given an away trip in the Devon Bowl to Williand Rovers and that game takes place on Wednesday October 28 with a 7.30pm kick off.
