Striker Callum Ball has returned to Derby County following the expiry of his two month loan spell with us.

Torquay obviously wanted to extend his loan spell, but following injury concerns to centre halves Krystian Pearce and Aaron Downes, obviously our resources needed to be spread elsewhere, and that unfortunately means we haven’t been able to secure his services for longer.

Since joining us, Ball made 11 starts for the club, and scored twice in the league campaign – both goals coming in the game against Cheltenham Town.

Clearly everybody at the club wishes him the best for the future, and who knows, when we have less injury headaches, maybe we can go back in for him later in the season.

In other news, winger Jordan Chapell has been named Torquay’s Player of the Month for September.

He joined us from Sheffield United in the summer and has already proven to be a very good addition to the squad, and particularly shone in the 4-2 victory over Cheltenham.

The runner up in the competition was centre half Krystian Pearce, and third place went to the winner of August’s competition, goalkeeper Martin Rice.
