Manager Alan Knill has said that victory over Dagenham and Redbridge was a big win for Torquay and now having back to back victories is a huge confidence boost for the boys.

Everyone had hoped that Torquay could build on the victory over Southend, and thanks to an Aaron Downes’ goal we did just that to record two successive one nil victories.

We might still be in the bottom three, but the table looks a lot healthier now with only a single point separating us from a host of teams above us.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer beamed.

‘It’s two wins on the bounce and it was great for the home supporters last week, and now great for the away supporters. We haven’t won back to back too many times and the challenge for now is to stay unbeaten. It was an outstanding away performance and we kept our shape really well.’

Knill admits that we had our scares in the game, but that was to be expected against a side like Dagenham, especially on their own patch, but he thought we defended resolutely and kept their chances to a minimum, but what was important for him is a few weeks ago those scares equalled goals, but now we’ve got that touch of luck about us following our last victory and they don’t seem to go in so easily when you’ve got more confidence.

The gaffer adds that we can now go into the festive period high on confidence and looking forward to the next game with a mindset of remaining unbeaten and picking up another win, instead of approaching it trying to avenge a loss, and that mental shift really does have an impact for players.
