Torquay United winger Billy Bodin has not been passed fit in time for the game against Chesterfield this weekend.

The 21 year old Welshman limped out of last Tuesdays match against Northampton Town after only 21 minutes of the game had passed.

Speaking to the Official Site as he announced the news that Billy had been ruled out, manager Chris Hargreaves has said he’s very hopeful that the injury will not be a long term problem.

‘He is still sore and he won’t play on Saturday. I’ve seen the incident about 15 times on the video and I’d say 90% of the time would hear the referee’s whistle. Play wasn’t stopped and that’s a lesson for us because it made the difference between two yards of cover that enabled Emile Sinclair to get in behind and score.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that the challenge on Billy led to a number of things happening, and even if he concedes the defender did get a touch on the ball, he says there’s no way that type of challenge would’ve been allowed in the Premier League as he cut right across Bodin regardless of any contact on the ball.

Hargreaves knows that Bodin is a strong and determined lad though, and his attitude and mentality he feels has really changed over the last three weeks, so he knows he’ll be back on the pitch as soon as he possibly can be.
