Manager Chris Hargreaves has confirmed that striker Ryan Bowman will be fined following his dismissal in the Southport game but the gaffer has backed him to bounce back.

Following the scoreless draw last weekend, the Torquay Herald Express carry quotes from the manager confirming that the disciplinary procedure will be followed having reviewed the footage, but wouldn’t go into any further details.

‘The club’s policy will have to be to fine him, and Ryan will be fined. He’s cost himself, with the fine and missing the next three games, and he may well have cost the club, because we dropped two points without him which could prove important later in the season.’

Hargreaves goes on again to say that he knows he didn’t give the referee any option given his behaviour, but he stated having reviewed the footage.

‘He didn’t headbutt the guy, he didn’t touch him and I think their player made a meal of it. I back Ryan, as a person and as a player. I’m just disappointed for him, because I know how much he loves football.’

Saying he knows that the player will learn from this and be better for it, he also admits that he’s hurt following it and gutted that he’s now got to watch the games for a bit knowing he can play no part.
