Torquay United have today announced the arrival of defender Dan Butler.

The 20 year old has joined us presumably on a 12 month contract following his release by Portsmouth over the summer.

Since signing his pro deal back in 2012, the player has gone on to make 54 first team appearances for the Fratton Park outfit across all competitions, although he is yet to bag his first Football League goal.

He has spent time out on loan with Havant and Waterlooville, and most recently Aldershot Town adding further game time to his development.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Paul Cox was delighted to get him on board and described the deal for him as a ‘no brainer.’

‘It was a no-brainer really. He`s a good player with potential to play at a very high level. He`s another footballer that we want to put on a stage and help us in our fight to build up this football club. He has tremendous experience for a player his age. I`m sure that will tell in what is going to be a very tough league.’
