Torquay United have brought in striker John Campbell on loan from Oxford United.

The player came to prominence with Jarrow Roofing from the Northern League Division One, and having joined League Two Oxford on a permanent deal at the end of November, in three appearances for them so far, he has scored once.

The 26 year old also has experience from a spell at Darlington back in 2011 where he took in 27 appearances, scoring six times.

Kelvin Thomas told the Official Site.

‘It is a really important time of the season for the club and we have to use all available resources to ensure that the squad is strong going into the next few months. Thea and the board raised some additional funds for a previous signing in the January transfer window that didn’t happen, so we have been able to use that at this time.’

Thomas goes on to thank Oxford’s chairman for helping the situation and everybody hopes that given the players eye for goal at other levels, he can replicate that with us and give us the boost we need.

Chris Hargreaves said himself of the capture.

‘I’m delighted to have John on board and it gives us a different option in the attacking department.’

He has joined us until the end of the season.

It’s also being reported that we are close to securing the loan signing of 20 year old Exeter City striker Jamie Reid.

It’s expected he will be officially announced tomorrow on a similar loan deal until the end of the season.
