Championship Striker Signs On Loan

Torquay United have today moved to secure the services of Millwall striker John Marquis.

Manager Alan Knill made the move after we waved good bye to Paul McCallum who has returned to West Ham United for treatment on a slight back injury that he has been dealing with for a while, but sadly it didn’t show signs of clearing up.

Marquis joins us on an emergency loan deal and our official site says it’s for a month, but Millwall are saying it’s until January 2nd, so we’ll see.

The 21 year old isn’t a like for like replacement as they are slightly different players, but the 21 year old knows the division having recently had a loan spell at Portsmouth where he actually appeared against us.

Paperwork is still to be confirmed completely but it’s expected he goes straight into the squad for the game against Plymouth tomorrow.

In 23 starts for Millwall he has scored 6 goals, and made a further 25 appearances from the bench.

His spell at Portsmouth saw him start 5 games, where he scored twice and made one more appearance from the bench.
