Manager Chris Hargreaves has been delighted with the attitude and commitment of Jordan Chapell and the decision has now been taken to remove him from the transfer list.

Hargreaves admitted that Chapell had now come through the uncertainty period he faced at the end of last season knowing we were dropping down to the Conference and he was obviously placed on the transfer list having expressed his desire to return closer to his home in Sheffield, but having come back refreshed in pre season, trained hard and impressed, Hargreaves has said he’s a real option for the first team this season and having spoken to him he wants to stay.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer explained.

‘We will be taking Jordan off the transfer list and looking forward to him being a good player for us. He is on wages that are sustainable, so that was never the issue. It was more a case that Jordan was in a phase where he wasn’t sure where he wanted to be. He was missing home and we’ve tried to make things more comfortable for him.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that since the players returned to pre season training, Jordan’s attitude couldn’t have been more spot on as even when he hasn’t been involved that attitude was ‘first class’ and obviously the club really rate him as a player, and even though we still have to look to reduce the wage bill given our circumstances, in general, the gaffer can’t fault those on the transfer list for their efforts so far.
