Manager Paul Cox has reiterated that he knew exactly what he was walking into at Plainmoor, but he feels he’s already starting to make his mark on the team in pre season training and following the performances that were put in during our opening friendly of the summer the other day.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer admitted that it had been intense and non stop but little had taken him or assistant John Ramshaw by surprise.

‘It`s been intense. We knew the size of the task in front of us when we came here, but both John Ramshaw and I have been working long hours to put the foundations in place and build a team. Because of the situation the club found itself in, we have been playing catch-up but things are starting to level off now.’

With a couple of signings made, and plenty of other squad decisions to be taken, he feels the two who have committed so far given their experience at a higher level and their desire to get back there is a boost for everyone at the club, because he knows how important it is to develop a winning mentality if we want to get back into the Football League this year.

‘We want to create a winning mindset around the place with young and hungry players who have the desire, commitment and determination to take this club to where it wants to be. It`s going to take time and patience to get us back into The Football League. I have been impressed with the positivity amongst the staff and supporters here. Everyone has a role to play as we look to carve out a bright future.’

To achieve that though we do obviously have differing short and long term goals because it’s about the foundation and the basics being in place so we can push on further, and on that score we go back to the friendly and the attitude he praised the players for, and he also references their efforts on the training pitch because he’s been pleased with what he’s seen.

‘This is a strong League and our financial situation is no secret, but with hard work and organisation, we can make our mark.’
