A disappointed manager Paul Cox has said the defeat and the manner of it, to Cheltenham Town at the weekend brings everybody back down to earth at the club.

With the visitors taking a comfortable three nil victory despite playing more than 80 minutes with only ten men, the gaffer was left telling the Official Site that whilst he feels our improvement is clear for everybody to see – clearly the game shows that despite making those improvements and heading in the right direction for him – there is still a long way for us left to go.

‘The performance and result brings everyone back down to earth. Whilst we are making progress and heading in the right direction, it does show that we are still a long way from where we want to be.’

Cox went on to say that in reality some ‘big decisions’ need to be made by him and his staff moving forward because there is no way that level of performance can be classed as acceptable and for him individuals need to look at themselves because you have bad days in football but you should have days like that.

‘I apologise to the supporters who deserve better than that. At least we have another game straight away and I will be looking for the right response at Eastleigh on Monday afternoon. There are no excuses from me. We were well beaten today and we`ll be working hard to ensure that we learn from it and it doesn`t happen again.’

Playing catch up as I am today, his mood wouldn’t have been lifted given earlier today we played out a three two defeat to Eastleigh and it was only the second time our hosts had beaten us in their history.

Again three nil down in the game, we only managed to put a better reflection on the score inside of the final six minutes of normal time.
