Manager Chris Hargreaves has basically conceded the challenge remains the same despite it being a fresh week following the loss to Cheltenham last weekend.

It was a good first half from us at Whaddon Road, but second half we were very much lacklustre in our efforts and 15 minutes from time Cheltenham took the lead and in doing so made more of their equal chances with us than we managed to.

Not the best way at all of backing up the unexpected victory over Rochdale and we really needed to build on that to close the gap on Northampton.

It wasn’t to be though and Hargreaves had to be pretty blunt when speaking to the Official Site following the game.

‘I was very annoyed with our second half performance. I know there’s a slope at Whaddon Road but it seemed like a mountain in the second half.’

The main annoyance for the gaffer is he feels Cheltenham were there in the game waiting to be beaten such was their performance but we failed at every opportunity to make that happen and then near the end we have been hit by a sucker punch but it was the way the game was going as we failed to get our noses in front when on top, and in the second period they ‘dominated in both boxes.’

‘Looking at the relegation scrap, nothing changes really. We now must beat Bury on Tuesday.’

One thing playing in our favour was the fact that other results didn’t go against us last weekend as the boss knows had they done so it could well have been game over, but we still have that glimmer of hope IF we can make it count in the Bury encounter.

With Bury being tough to beat most would predict a draw again, but if we perform to our best there’s no reason we can’t take the three points but saying it always remains different from doing it.
