Director of Football Dean Edwards has reflected on the month of June since taking over the club as the lead man in our new consortium.

Speaking to the Official Site he admitted it had been a very busy and chaotic first month in charge with everything that had to get sorted and with pre season and National League plans to be made, but thankfully now things are quietening down somewhat as the new season nears.

‘It`s been chaotic at times, but things are starting to calm down now. As a Board, we`ve worked extremely hard to get the foundations in place so that we can start building upon them in the weeks and months that lie ahead. I can`t stress enough how important it is for the community of Torquay to come together and really get behind the club.’

Edwards went on to state the obvious in saying that nobody associated with Torquay ever wanted to see a situation like this arise again in our future, so now it was time for players, staff and fans to all pull together and join forces to move the club back in the right direction once more.

‘With the fixtures being released on Friday, there is that sense of excitement and anticipation for the new season now. There is a lot of quality in the League this season, but I am confident that we will be in a better place than last year. In Paul Cox we have an ambitious and hungry manager who has exactly the right mentality that we are looking for at this football club.’

Adding about Cox that he’s the kind of person who will ‘roll his sleeves up’ and give his all and get stuck in, and those are the types of characteristics we need to forge our path ahead.

‘Also in his new assistant, John Ramshaw, we have a real football man whose knowledge of the game is outstanding. Everyone has a role to play in getting Torquay United to where we want to be. It`s going to be an exciting journey for us all.’
