Following on from the reports last night, Torquay United have today confirmed the arrival of striker Jamie Reid on a loan move from Exeter City.

Reid has come through their youth ranks, making his debut for them back in 2012 and he scored twice in his second game for the club – a two all draw against Wimbledon, and he has been out on loan at Dorchester and most recently Weymouth for further first team experience.

In his spell at Weymouth he played eight times, scoring three goals.

Manager Chris Hargreaves told the Official Site of his capture.

‘We are delighted to welcome Jamie. He is an excellent young footballer and will add another dimension to our forward options. It has been a tremendous couple of days for the club and exciting for our supporters to be welcoming two new faces in the form of Jamie and John Campbell. Both will join a group of young footballers hungry for success and we are now fully focussed on a massive FA Trophy game at Wrexham on Saturday.’

Hargreaves also revealed that the club are entering into discussions with the other non contract players to hopefully tie them down with us.

‘This certainly doesn’t mean the club is rolling in cash but, with another set of experienced eyes looking at things, it is a little clearer what is available.’
