Torquay ran out as five two winners yesterday in our trip to Dartmouth FC’s Longcross.

A second pre season friendly for new manager Paul Cox ended in another victory and Torquay were two goals to the good at the break before a very spirited fightback from our hosts saw them level the scores pretty early after the restart.

Torquay got back on top though and Ashley Yeoman was once again amongst the goal stakes as he grabbed another four on the day, with Sam Chaney getting the other one.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game Cox explained.

‘It was another useful exercise for us. The lads worked extremely hard in difficult conditions with the heat. Our fitness levels have really impressed me and there were some really good individual and collective performances out there. It was nice to see Ashley Yeoman amongst the goals again, he did well, but as I say, it was a solid team display where no-one let us down. We now move on to the next game on Wednesday in good heart.’

Torquay have added another home pre season friendly to our list this summer as well.

Former England centre half Terry Butcher will bring his Newport County side to Plainmoor on Saturday July 18 for a 3pm kick off.

It will be the first of four home games we have scheduled for the summer that will see us take on Yeovil Town, Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.
