Manager Chris Hargreaves has said he was pleased with the resilience of the side in the two nil victory over Halifax at the weekend.

Two goals inside the final 20 minutes of the game from Campbell and Daniel gave us the victory and put us on a nice run of three successive wins with the Altrincham and Lincoln games as the side bounced back from defeat against Aldershot.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, a pleased Hargreaves explained that everyone had already thanked young goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe for keeping us in the game because he knows they could’ve taken the lead before we finally got our noses in front.

‘We adapted to the pitch and showed really good defensive resilience. We scored two really good goals to win the game. Dan has made a couple of good reaction saves and that`s the reason he`s in the team. You`ve got to show the bravery to play him and he`s been brilliant for us. The substitutes were excellent for us. Courtney Richards came on and made a real difference with the quality of the balls he was putting into the right areas.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that the movement for the first goal especially was ‘terrific’ and we did have a bit of luck in the build up, but luck is something we haven’t had a lot of this season at points so he was simply going to welcome it and praise the finish.

The second goal of course coming from the free kick, also earned praise.

‘Kadell`s free-kick was fantastic and a goal that would grace any stadium in any league. He`s a really good lad to have around the place and I`ve been very impressed with his character.’

Speaking ahead of the game Hargreaves also admitted now was the time to start making decisions on the futures of players and what he wants his squad to look like next season having learnt a lot this term.

‘We`re formulating offers for the people we want to keep but I`m not having any discussions until the final game is finished because I think that`s right, so all the players can give everything until the end of the season.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that in the week following the final match, discussions will then be had and he’ll sit down with each player and lay out the future but whilst he admits it’s been a difficult season for us, he doesn’t feel he can criticise the effort and commitment of the side because he knows they have tried all season long, and lately it’s started clicking for them again.

‘The atmosphere is a lot happier after a couple of wins and it has been a tough spell, no doubt about it. The last two games have at least put us in a more respectable position for a club of this size. We are pleased but we want to finish the season with two more wins. It was a really good victory against Lincoln with some young boys out there. Lincoln are a hard team to beat, they are very direct and the credit goes to the players for their effort.’
