Manager Chris Hargreaves has said he was delighted to see Torquay comfortably put Bishop’s Stortford to the sword in the first round of the FA Trophy.

A Ryan Bowman brace, with further goals from Luke Young, Duane Ofori-Acheampong and Jordan Chapell gave us a solid five nil victory and booked our place in the second round and speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained.

‘To score five goals is very pleasing and we punished Bishop’s Stortford when we needed to. It was a tough game because they threw a lot of bodies into the box and they moved the ball forward quickly. At times, we carved through them and our front six players can do that.’

United:

Martin Rice, James McQuilkin, Krystian Pearce, Angus MacDonald (Oneil Odofin 75), Tom Cruise, Louis Briscoe (Jordan Chapell 71), Luke Young (Ben Harding 82), Courtney Richards, Toby Ajala, Ryan Bowman, Duane Ofori-Acheampong.

Substitutes not used:

Ashley Yeoman, Jordan Seabright (GK).

The second round draw for the FA Trophy has taken place and we host Bromley at Plainmoor next.

The game takes place on Saturday January 10 and ticket details will be announced in due course.
