Manager Chris Hargreaves has lauded our creativity and ruthlessness in front of goal this pre season as it’s helping him to erase the memory of so many one nil losses that contributed to our relegation last season.

Ashley Yeoman and Ryan Bowman were both on target during the first half of the game against Walsall, and their efforts proved to be enough to take us to victory on the day, with a fantastic overall performance from the team.

Speaking to the Official Site following the two one victory, the gaffer explained that he felt our more free scoring manner so far this summer boded well for the coming campaign.

‘We were very good in the first half and I was also pleased with the younger lads in the second half, who are still learning to play in front of fans. They are trying to learn about how to manage a game and there was a bit of nerves at the end, when we were rushing into tackles, but it’s again something they are learning. I was pleased with both halves for different reasons and we’ve been working really hard on our fitness.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that he knows Walsall’s lads have also had a tough week and they looked leggy as well, but he wasn’t prepared to take anything away from our showing because he knows we worked hard for it and deserved it.

A victory against Walsall following on from a good draw against Yeovil, and two victories over Dorchester and Totnes, sees us already having scored eleven goals across our four games so far and that’s no shabby return given how long we have been back in training, and the fact we are mixing it up with new signings, youngsters and trialists.
