Manager Chris Hargreaves was a happy man at full time in our FA Trophy victory over Hemel Hempstead at the weekend.

With Ryan Bowman cleared by the specialist given his heart palpitations, he returned to the starting line up and got us on our way with a penalty after 30 minutes of the game, and then skipper Aaron Downes secured the victory with a goal of his own 25 minutes from the full time whistle.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained.

‘The league has been frustrating for us and we’ve dropped below where we want to be, but this competition is a nice fillip, and something to look forward to. It was always going to be a tough game and not pretty because of the pitch, but we defended well and took our chances. In fact, we must have had ten chances but, if you’d offered me two nil before the game, I’d have taken it.’

With the award of the penalty, their keeper was also sent from the pitch and whilst Hargreaves acknowledged that certainly helped us, he felt for them as he thought it was a harsh decision to send him off, although it was clearly a penalty.
