With a younger team selected for the game against Lincoln last weekend, manager Chris Hargreaves has said he couldn’t have been more pleased with the performance, the victory and the three points.

Speaking to the Official Site following the three one victory that saw Lincoln reduced to ten men, Hargreaves beamed.

‘It was a tough place to come against a team riding high in the league but our game plan was right from the start. We had a slice of luck (red card) although it was a movement we have worked on with Duane. We made the most of them having ten men and, but the letter of the law, it was a sending off and you have to take advantage of that.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that he was disappointed to see us concede the goal so soon after we took the man advantage, but the response from the players after that more than seemed to make up for his initial frustration and it wasn’t too long really before we got back on level terms and then took control of the game.

‘It could have become a difficult afternoon because it’s tough to break team down with ten men, but we showed massive character to come back and score three goals. It was a real statement and a real bonus after a tough couple of weeks.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that he felt Duane was a ‘handful’ all day long and it was a ‘magnificent’ display from him, especially as ahead of the game he was touch and go as he was nursing a knock.

‘He’s proved his worth with that performance and he could have scored in the previous games he’s played. He was a huge plus for us, as they all were.’

With Courtney Richards also grabbing his first professional goal there was certainly a lot to celebrate and a lot to look forward to when consistency really does kick in for this team.

‘These are young lads finding their feet in this division and a really big day for them.’
