Manager Chris Hargreaves was an incredibly happy man following this weekend’s four nil victory over Nuneaton.

A comprehensive display produced the comprehensive result and skipper Luke Young led by example and grabbed himself a brace before further goals were added by Aaron Downes and Ryan Bowman.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Hargreaves said it was actually one of the best performances he has seen at Plainmoor in a long time and I imagine many will agree with him.

‘It was one of the best performances I’ve seen at Plainmoor for a long time, both as a manager and a player. They showed a fantastic attitude and it was key we started the game right, and gave the opposition a huge amount of respect.’

The gaffer goes on to say that he felt we looked dangerous all game long going forward and for him there were some ‘excellent performances’ on display from individuals but obviously it was also a great team performance.

‘We’ve got a really exciting front four and we’ve worked hard in training on making different runs to exploit the opposition. Everybody was important out there, the defenders were strong, the midfield was on the second ball and we kept it really well. Our possession was excellent.’

The gaffer goes on to say that with him wanting midfield to chip in regularly with goals, he couldn’t have been more pleased with the showing of Youngy and he felt everyone deserved their goals given their own individual efforts on the day and all season where results haven’t been what he felt we deserved.

‘These young boys deserve all the credit because they’re producing the goods out on the pitch.’
