Manager Chris Hargreaves has said he has to be happy with a point from the Wrexham game, simply because there were positives he could take.

With us heading to the Racecourse desperately needing a win, it was just as important we didn’t lose and the gaffer felt that we showed signs of getting back to our best in terms of the passing game, but it was far from pretty and there was also a good resilience to us again.

Speaking to the Official Site following the scoreless draw, the manager explained.

‘It wasn’t a pretty game but, in the first half, we looked like we could get our passing game going. Conditions were terrible in the second half. We carved out one good chance and if you want it to fall to anyone, it’s Ashley Yeoman, but he couldn’t put it away. It became a battle between two teams desperate to win but also desperate not to lose. I’m proud of their spirit but we didn’t have our normal quality in the second half to make that telling piece of individual skill.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that with a very youthful team on show, he couldn’t have been prouder for their efforts, especially defensively as they stood up well but when Ricey was called on, he did his job.
