Torquay United travel to Bishop’s Stortford in the FA Trophy on Saturday and manager Chris Hargreaves knows it will be a tough encounter but it’s a competition he wants to see us progress in.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Hargreaves admitted he has some choices to make when it comes upfront as both Ryan Bowman and Duane Ofori-Acheampong scored in the win over Halifax and there has also been success with Louis Briscoe holding the No 10 role in the hole, but of course with the manager talking about tiredness and fatigue he is obviously considering given people a rest but he knows he has to get the balance right because this competition could be key for our finances.

‘We wanted Duane and Ryan to be right up against the centre halves against Halifax, allowing the wingers to drift inside to the No 10 slot. It wasn’t the night for that in the end, we scored a good goal but the weather didn’t really allow for passing patterns.’

As for the Halifax win, he says it was a good win against a very tough side but it wasn’t a classic or pretty game, but with the FA Trophy being important financially he is glad to see us going into it on the back of a win for confidence purposes.

‘I want us to do well in the FA Trophy. I got to the final in my first year as a player here and I’d like to do the same as a manager.’

Defensively though Hargreaves has seen his options somewhat limited.

Aaron Downes continues his suspension after his red card and four match ban, and we will also likely be without Durrell Berry for the game.

‘Durrell is a big doubt and Aaron is suspended. It was disappointing from someone with his experience. I don’t think it was the worst in the work, it will cost him now financially, he’s apologised to the lads and the staff but he’s been punished more than anyway.’
