Torquay’s winning streak in the conference came to an end in a seven goal thriller against Telford last weekend.

It was a game that ebbed and flowed and having fallen behind early on, we did get ourselves back into the match and then took the lead, before they then levelled the scores again.

Being reduced to ten men certainly counted against us when Toby Ajala left the pitch and Telford again took the lead before we battled back to level the scores, but we just couldn’t do it again when they hit their fourth.

When Aaron Downes was sent off in the dying seconds of the game it kind of summed up the day for us.

Speaking to the Official Site following the loss manager Chris Hargreaves certainly wasn’t going to get carried away though, instead calling on us to put it behind us, bounce back and start another winning run as soon as we can.

‘Credit to Telford, they had a good spirit about them but scoring three goals away from home should mean you win the game. They wanted to turn it into a battle and they should because they’re fighting for their lives. We got caught up in it and didn’t really get our game going, but, at 2-1 up, it’s a game we win if we go into half time with that lead. I didn’t see that coming but I’ve backed them when we’ve won and I’ll do the same now.’

If anything for the gaffer it’s just a timely reminder that this is in effect a new group, a young squad and we can’t expect things to always go our way in matches because this is football and you have to enjoy the good times and try and remain balanced when you get knocks and this defeat is just a knock and doesn’t undo the good work we’ve put in in recent times.
