Manager Chris Hargreaves has demanded that the team learn from the mistakes made in the loss to Woking, and put it into practice when we face Southport next.

Speaking to the Official Site following the three two defeat that saw us throw away a two goal advantage, the gaffer explained.

‘We can`t dwell on Woking but we do need to look at what happened. The first half was excellent at times and when you`re that much on top, you have to see the opposition off. We had three or four chances to make it 3-0 but it didn`t happen. We knew they would throw the kitchen sink at us in the second half and it was a case of individual errors. As a group, we look at the positives and we were outstanding for long periods. There was a bit of naivety and to give credit to Woking, they had more power than us in the second half.’

As for Southport more directly, the gaffer knows we need to keep the passion, pride and quality we showed in the first half of the game against Woking, but learn from and not repeat the individual errors that contributed to the loss, because Southport will be another tough, physical battle for us.

‘It has been a tough period but this is the nature of my job. It`s a great job and I enjoy it. It`s stressful but that`s the same for everybody else in their jobs, and that`s life. It`s a brilliant and proud position to be in, and I appreciate it. I just want the players to have the same drive, pride, motivation and ambition as I have. We have to pick up some wins and climb up this table, but we also know we will be facing a big strong team against Southport, who are playing percentage football. We have to cope with that and stand up to do all the ugly things that enable us to go and play. You have to also win the one v one situations that you work on all week.’

In terms of team news it could be all change up front as John Campbell has already been ruled out, and with Ryan Bowman and Louis Briscoe both picking muscle injuries in the Woking game, they will have to be assessed late to find out if they can be in contention for the game.

‘John Campbell won`t make the weekend, Ryan Bowman is 50/50 and so is Louis Briscoe. Those two have tight muscles and their fitness could go either way. Aaron Dawson didn`t train yesterday and there are a few tired bodies from playing a lot of games, but we`ve still got enough in the squad to go up to Southport. It is getting to that time in the season when you`re starting to plan for the future. It`s the same for Torquay United as it is Manchester United. Players will leave and players will come in. We will always be putting out a competitive team and there is no way we will just experiment in the remaining games. Our focus is to fight until the very last minute of every game.’
