Manager Chris Hargreaves has put six players on the transfer list already as he begins plans to reinvigorate and refresh our side ready for the Conference challenge we now face to get back into the Football League.

This will be the first step of his plans to remould the squad, and the decision has been taken to do this swiftly to give the players every opportunity of finding new employers so the gaffer can continue his own plans.

The six listed are Dale Tonge, Jordan Chapell, Aaron Downes, Nathan Craig, Karl Hawley and Shaun Cooper.

Speaking to the Official Site as the news was announced, Hargreaves explained.

‘I feel that these lads are not in my plans going forward and I don’t want to stand in their way, so the easiest way to gauge interest is by putting them on the transfer list.’

The gaffer goes on to say that there are no guarantees obviously that any side will express an interest in them so we simply have to see what happens now that the list has been circulated, and if nobody does firm up a concrete offer then it’s no great problem, he’ll welcome them back for pre season training and he’ll have to look to freshen things up in a different way.

‘We have been relegated and there are reasons behind that, so we need to sort it out, clear up the wage bill and bring in new players.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that not thinking at this stage those listed are in his plans isn’t an indictment of them, it’s just sometimes things don’t work out as you originally imagine when you move to a club so ideally that can be sorted quickly so we can make our own plans.

‘There are some good players on the list and I expect to see them attract interest. There are others that we have spoken to and some we sill have to make a final decision on.’

Second year scholars, midfielders, Sam Chaney and Mickey Parcell have also been offered pro contracts for next season.
