Torquay United have today confirmed that Head of Youth Geoff Harrop has now left the club with continuing doubts about the future of our youth set up.

Having only spoken recently of approaches from others, his contract with the club has now expired and with no offer on the table, he has moved on.

A statement from the club read.

‘Academy Head Geoff Harrop has left TQ1 at the end of his contract with Torquay United Football Club. It is with regret that this decision has had to be made but it was decided that due to financial considerations a new contract was not in the best interests of the Club at this time.’

Will no doubt be disappointing for those lads just getting their first team spurs as they have lost a good friend and somebody who helped them on their path to the first team.

This decision probably also gives a very good indication of the future for the youth set up in 2015-16 given everything that’s been said about it.

Probably not a surprise if a deal is now announced for him with previously linked Yeovil Town as they are restarting their Academy this season apparently.
