Manager Alan Knill knows that the best Christmas present most Torquay fans would want is to see the club pick up the points we need this month to lift us off the foot of the League Two table.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of what is always a hectic schedule for clubs and fans alike, Knill admitted that we are fighting for our lives and it’s a massive month for us where our fortunes could go one of two ways.

‘Sooner or later we have to put some points on the board. It’s a big month for us. You look at the fixtures and they’re good fixtures, but it was the same last month and we didn’t get as many points as we should have. This is a great opportunity to climb the league and we want to be higher by the end of December.’

Knill goes on to say that there is very little that is festive about Christmas when you are losing games especially, but he really does have faith that we will soon improve and that our fortunes will turn and we’ll start to see the club move to where we want to be in the table this season.

As ever though, faith is one thing, ‘we have to put it right on the pitch.’

He adds that morale is still high in the camp, but of course some players aren’t happy at not playing, but that’s different from them not giving their all in training and everyone is doing that and the players are committed to the cause, but everybody needs to draw a line under what has happened so far and forge ahead together to ensure that things are different when we look back in a month’s time.
