Alan Knill has said he’s spoken to a number of players about joining Torquay for next season but he believes the financial advantage will move to the club as non contracted players approach pre season.

As well as rumours going wild at this stage of the season, so are the demands as players as they play one option off against another to secure the best possible deal they can, so Knill says it pays to be patient to make sure the club itself gets the best deals it can.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer explained.

‘I’ve spoken to a lot of players and met with a lot of players, and they’re all interested in coming but it’s not really until late June that people sign. If I was in their position, I would probably do the same, keeping my options open and seeing if somebody will offer me more money.’

Knill says that he thinks a lot of players will get a shock this summer when negotiating with clubs because all the fellow managers he’s spoke to have confirmed they are also cutting budgets as the money isn’t flowing as easily at it used to.
