With pre season friendlies set against Yeovil and Hereford, Alan Knill has admitted he’ll probably only arrange another three before we start the season proper.

Speaking to the Official Site Knill explained that he was a great believer in not playing too many games ahead of the season, as he prefers to focus on training and tactics so as to help limit possible injuries before the season kicks off.

‘I don’t like to play too many games, I’m probably looking at a maximum of 5 or 6. Some teams have eight games in a five week period and you’d be going mad if that was during the season, but for some reason they feel they have to play a load of games in pre season. As long as we know the players are it, all we’re doing is working for the first league game.’

Knill says that pre season is something that should be endured, not enjoyed but he’s hoping everybody comes back having adhered to their summer fitness plans so nobody has to play catch up.
