Goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe has now penned a professional deal with Torquay United having enjoyed his mini trial at Liverpool.

The local lad broke into the first team side towards the end of last season and manager Chris Hargreaves faith in him was well rewarded with some good showings, and he has now been rewarded himself with a two year contract.

Speaking to the Official Site with the contract signed, the youngster explained.

‘It`s brilliant to have signed for the team I supported as a boy and a very proud occasion for myself and my parents. I`m a local boy and went to school just down the road from here. It was very enjoyable to earn my first-team debut toward the end of last season and I felt fairly comfortable in the first game away at Aldershot. I was bit more nervous for my first home game because it was in front of family and friends. When you come out of the tunnel, it can be a shock to see so many people but, once you get going, it`s just another game of football. The defence were a great help to me and made life easier. I had the training spell at Liverpool and the facilities were amazing. We then went to Germany for a few games and that was a great experience. I now have the chance to be involved with the senior team here at Torquay.’

Next season should see him build nicely on his five appearances so far.
