Torquay United have confirmed that Leicester City midfielder Jak McCourt will now remain on loan with us for a further month after we successfully extended his loan spell.

The teenager has been very impressive in terms of his commitment and desire to do a job for the club on the pitch, and manager Alan Knill is clearly delighted to have secured his services for longer – especially as the loan extension means he is eligible for this weekends match against Rochdale in the first round of the FA Cup.

Speaking to the Official Site Knill said of the youngster.

‘Jak is a good player and for someone so young, he’s pretty mature. Sometimes you forget he’s 18 years old and that is a compliment to him.’

Knill goes on to say that there are few 18 year olds making the impact in the league that he has done since joining us, and his desire to improve as a player is fantastic and he’s constantly critical of his own performances, but Knill feels that if he can get 30 games under his belt by the time he turns 19 next summer, it’ll be a fantastic achievement for him and really set him on his way as our gaffer believes the player will only get better with age.

With McCourt being given permission to play in the FA Cup, Knill also confirmed that he’d secured permission for Ade Azeez, Anthony O’Connor and Paul McCallum to play in the game as well.
