Torquay United have made midfielder Luke Young our second signing of the summer.

The player has signed a two year deal at Plainmoor and comes with a reputation as being a terrific passer of the ball and one of the top players to be produced recently by the Plymouth Argyle youth academy.

Clearly manager Chris Hargreaves believes that their loss, through surprising releasing him this summer, will be our gain moving forward.

Speaking to the Official Site after penning his deal with us, Young said.

‘After being at Plymouth for such a long time, it was obviously hard to take when I was released by to have interest from Torquay quite early in the summer made me think I must be doing something right as a player. As the weeks progressed and things started to take shape, I came here to meet the gaffer and looked around the training ground. The gaffer explained what he wants from me as a player and it got me thinking it was nice to be wanted. It’s a massive privilege for me to now be signing a two year deal with a club like Torquay.’

Certainly joins us saying the right things.

The 21 year old signed his first pro deal with Plymouth back in August of 2010 and since then he has gone on to make 75 starting appearances for them, with a further 33 showings from the bench. He has also contributed eight goals in that time.

39 of those appearances came in 2013-14, and so did four of those goals.
