Club skipper Lee Mansell has rejected the offer of a new deal, and has now signed for Bristol Rovers.

Having suffered relegation last season, and with his existing deal up this summer, the modern day 31 year old stalwart has decided that time is right to bring an end to his eight year association with the club and seek a new challenge.

Having joined us from Oxford back in the summer of 2006, he has gone on to rack up a very impressive 373 starting appearances for us, with his total record reading 381 including substitute showings. He has also chipped in with 24 goals across the years, two of which came in 2013-14 along with 46 of his appearances.

The club and manager Chris Hargreaves are obviously very disappointed by his decision as they hoped he would sign on for the coming campaign and help play his part in putting back into the Football League, but it’s one they will obviously accept given his service to us so far and therefore the club wanted to go on record to wish him ‘great success’ in his future, citing his ‘wonderful efforts’ in his time with us.
