Goalkeeper Michael Poke has departed Plainmoor and moved to Fratton Park to join Portsmouth.

The 28 year old rejected the offer of a new contract by Torquay so he leaves us having spent two years at the club having joined us on a permanent basis from Brighton and Hove Albion back in the summer of 2012.

In that time he made 60 appearances for the Gulls, but only made 14 last campaign owing to injury and then the form of Martin Rice.

Poke did however spend a few spells on loan with us earlier in his career, where he racked up 47 starting appearances, with two additional ones from the bench.

He therefore leaves Torquay this time round with a total of 109 appearances for us.

He leaves the club with their best wishes, and their thanks for his efforts across the years.
