Manager Chris Hargreaves was again frustrated as he blamed a naive second half display for costing us the win against Woking.

Having taken the two nil lead going into the half time break, Woking hit back with three in the second period to take all three points and in quotes carried by the Torquay Herald Express a disappointed gaffer explained that it was again really a tail of two halves for us.

‘We were in a great position, but couldn’t see it through. I thought we were magnificent in the first half and could have come in 4-0 up. But we showed a bit of naivety in the second half and were overpowered. At half-time we told the players to keep doing the same things they had done in the first half and put the ball in the right areas. But I just didn’t feel there was enough ‘nous’ to see the game out. And we made a couple of mistakes in key areas. It’s a shame, because for long periods we were very good going forward, and really should have seen them off before they even had a chance.’

Hargreaves went on to say that we knew at half time they would go very direct in the second period, but despite expecting it we couldn’t handle it and it again goes down as a game we need to learn from and improve upon as we let go another three points and they would’ve been a valuable three points for us.

Another frustration from the game for the gaffer was the fact that we lost top scorer Ryan Bowman to a groin injury and we’re still awaiting news on how long he might be out now.
