Player manager Kevin Nicholson has given his thoughts following the one all draw against Grimsby Town at the weekend.

Having taken the lead just before the half time break through Tyrone Marsh, many were hoping for a return of all three points but despite clearly having dominance of the possession, Grimsby were troublesome in front of goal and eventually got the reward for their efforts eleven minutes from time from the 12 yard spot.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference, the gaffer explained.

‘I felt that in the first half-an-hour or so we were waiting for something bad to happen. But we got ourselves in front and the goal gave us plenty of belief and I thought that we could go on and get a couple more goals at that stage. Grimsby are a good team, though, and they were always going to come back; they are solid, hard-working and never give up, but we matched them out there.’

Nicholson went on to say that ultimately our opposition were where we wanted to be, but obviously we’ve got a lot of work still to do so he’s not going to get carried away with a point against them because arguably it may have been all three.

‘If we keep doing the right things, we will get to where we want to be. We gave as good as we got and I think that both teams can be pleased with their performance. It`s a chance for us to kick-on now. Everyone did their job today and there were pleasing performances all over the pitch.’

With Marsh getting the goal on the day, he scored for the second time in a row and the 21 year old former Oxford United man came in for particular praise from the gaffer for his efforts and attitude of late – especially as he’s winning him over.

‘I have to admit that there were aspects of his game that I wasn`t overly impressed with early on. I am not saying anything that I haven`t already told him and he took the criticism like a man and is starting to show me what he can do. He is proving to me that he wants to start every game and that he knows where the goal is. He`s also doing the ugly stuff and has been a key player for us in recent games. It`s an opportunity for him to build on this now and establish himself in the team. There is no doubt that he has the ability.’
