Manager Alan Knill has said that centre half Krystian Pearce will return in tomorrow’s game with Chesterfield at Plainmoor.

For a change injuries have timed themselves right because we are missing on loan Anthony O’Connor who is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21s, but we can now welcome back Pearce so Knill is quite happy.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game Knill said that Torquay finally getting a bit of depth back into the squad was what allowed Kirtys MacKenzie to join Gloucester on loan, as well as midfielder Damon Lathrope to go out for some proper first team action at Hereford.

‘We’ve got Peace, so we’re not short at centre back. It’s one of those situations where you try to sign good players but that means they might miss games through international duty. It’s disappointing because Anthony has been outstanding, but the good thing is we’ve a decent player to replace him in Krystian.’

Knill adds that missing O’Connor is a blow obviously but if things in football work for you then you have a good replacement and good cover anyway, so he’s not overly concerned on that score.

He adds further that the lads allowed out on loan need games to keep them sharp, confident and in the case of MacKenzie he’s been ill for quite some time so needs games to help catch himself up in his development.

An additional bonus obviously having brought a few in on loan, letting a few out on loan also helps balance the books for a period.
