Liam Prynn has declined the chance to move to Aston Villa, preferring to stay at Torquay to continue his development.

Geoff Harrop, head of youth, penned an update on young Liam for the match day programme and had the following to say.

The full piece can be read on the Official Site.

‘Our schoolboy striker Liam Prynn spent some time at Aston Villa in the summer and they offered him a three year contract with their club. Villa have been excellent in the way they have dealt with us and we’re really grateful to them for the manner of their negotiations over Liam. We accepted the offer and Liam travelled but, unfortunately, Liam just felt the move wasn’t right for him and we’re talking about a 16 year old kid, so we would always support his decision, whatever it was. He came back and asked to stay with Torquay, and we spoke with Liam and his father on numerous occasions to give him some of our experience in these matters. Liam has decided to sign for us and turn down the opportunity at Aston Villa.’
