Manager Chris Hargreaves has had to concede that the season may now be over for left back Tom Cruise.

The player has been out of action for the last six weeks with a knee injury, and he was set to undergo surgery yesterday in an effort to finally try and clear the problem up – so with less than two months left of our campaign back in the Conference, it’s highly unlikely he will make a return ahead of next season.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of last night’s game against Chester, Hargreaves explained.

‘Tom Cruise is having an operation and that could be him finished for the season. We only have eight weeks left and a knee injury is normally six weeks at least, so he will struggle. As much as I`d like him to get back fit and play the final few games, it might be tough. We can only wait and see what happens.’

At the time Hargreaves also talked about potentially giving youngster Levi Ives a rest in the game given the pressure he’s come under in our recent games and given where he is in his own development and as fans will know he did in fact rest him in the one nil loss.
