Alan Knill has finished his first priority job since taking full control of the team, by deciding who stays and who goes.

Our new manager has released seven players, with seven set to be offered new terms.

Those being released when their contracts expire are.

Joe Oastler, Daniel Leadbitter, Sam Halpin, Karl Baker, Craig Easton, Lloyd Macklin and Danny Stevens.

Loanee Angus MacDonald will not be pursued as a permanent signing for next season.

Aaron Downes, Brian Saah, Rene Howe, Ashley Yeoman, Ryan Jarvis, Martin Rice and Tom Cruise have, or will be offered new deals covering next season.

Knill is also set to enter talks with Elliot Benyon who is out of contract at Southend.

Knill also confirmed that an offer has been presented to Chris Brass to join the coaching team, but no decision has yet been made on assistant manager Shaun Taylor.
