The ten strong local businessmen consortium have said that their attempts to takeover Torquay are progressing well.

The group are led by current commercial manager Dean Edwards continue to have an exclusivity period until Thursday to get the deal over the line and they are set to meet acting chairman Bill Phillips tomorrow.

In various quotes doing the rounds in the press, Edwards is quoted as saying.

‘It’s progressing. Everybody in the consortium really wants this to work because of their love for the club.’

With the club still to satisfy Football Conference executives that funds are in place to meet our obligations in terms of fixtures ahead of the 2015-16 season, Edwards went on to say that nobody is the group is looking to make a profit out of this, they just want to keep the club alive after all of Thea Bristow’s efforts and generosity in passing the club on and she of course continues to fund us over the summer whilst the takeover is hopefully completed having already put in a reported £3million.

‘We’re trying to keep the club alive. If it’s through sheer hard work and effort, it will stay alive. This consortium is not out to make money, they want to save the club.’
