Manager Alan Knill was left delighted by the performance of the players in the game against Plymouth Argyle.

Whilst the game ended in a draw and not all three points, it did bring an end to our run of three consecutive defeats, and for the manager it saw a return to the type of performance levels that he wants from the squad because we were competitive and attacked with intent, so if we can build on that he knows we have a great shot of pushing up the table over the coming games.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one all draw he explained.

‘It was a really good game, a good derby and both sets of supporters got behind their team. We feel we could have won it and Plymouth will feel the same, but I was just pleased with the way my players set about it.’

Knill goes on to say that we were coming off the back of three bad results, and two bad performances especially really, so we desperately needed to see a response with commitment and tempo and that’s exactly what the players gave him.

Overall it was a good test for the players and he feels they came through it well, and gave him plenty of positives to take from the game, but now he really needs them to build on it.

The controversial penalty decision was a turning point as we could’ve well gone on to make the margin greater, but the players could’ve let their heads drop with that set back, but they stayed on the front foot and didn’t let it affect them which he was delighted with.
