The Wait is Over- Robertson Commits

Finally, after weeks of negotiation and trauma the deal is done. Chris Robertson has joined the other 18 in the squad by committing to another year at Plainmoor.
Robertson, who has cemented his place alongside Chris Todd in the back four, has finally put pen to paper on the deal.

Since joining on loan in March 2007, following relegation from the football league, he has played in 69 games for the Gulls and is a fans favorite, he is known not to shy away from a challange and makes a 50-50 ball into a sure bet. Chris was a very important part of the playoff push and, when Histon were pushing for their second goal in the second leg, it was Robertson, more than anyone, who fought to the bitter end on that awful pitch.

Many fans had been sure of the signing after his appearance at training in the past week and with the collapse of the Branston deal, will be relieved that Torquay have some more strength in their box for next year. Many had contemplated that Branston was Robertson’s replacement, this could have proved correct had Burton not snatched him.

Torquay now have a squad of 19 for next year and with Jamie Hatch still on trial and Buckle claiming there are more targets, that could pass the 20 mark. Torquay fans will breath a sigh of relief, safe in the knowledge that now the search for new players will be at the forefront of Buckles mind.
