Torquay have appointed Alan Knill as their “interim manager”.

With Gulls boss Martin Ling currently on sick leave the westcountry side have turned to Knill, sacked by Scunthorpe earlier this season, to help Shaun Taylor ensure that Torquay steer clear of relegation as they’re perilously close to the drop zone at the moment.

It’s hoped that Knill’s (previously manager of Bury too) connections with Manchester United and Everton, having been built up over the years, can come into play with players loaned to Torquay to help them, along with his “edge of steel”, for the remainder of the season.
