Manager Chris Hargreaves has said that Dorchester was a tough and useful test especially for our youngsters, and now he knows we have a challenge when we face League 1 Yeovil.

A good three nil win in our last friendly delighted Hargreaves who oversaw the introduction of trialists and youngsters to the team again, and he explained to the Official Site.

‘It’s a tough test for a young side but it’s what we need. We’re still in the stage of building and finding the right squad for the coming season. It’s a really good game for us and good to see our trialists in action.’

As for welcoming Yeovil, he added.

‘The fans will hopefully enjoy being back in the stadium and they get to see our new lads. You always worry about injuries but these games have to be played. You have to get your fitness and we have three games in a week against Yeovil, Walsall and Plymouth.’

Hargreaves admits that it will prove a tough ask of the players to play that often, especially at this stage of pre season, but he knows they will more than reap the benefits of it by the time the seasno cycles round.

‘We want the players to be used to this and we obviously expect Yeovil to be very strong. We’re trying to build a good team ethic and that’s part of the aim. I’m really pleased with how the lads are progressing in pre season, pleased to be back on the training ground and to be around footballers. The new signings have gelled really well with the squad and I’m delighted to see the younger players step up to the plate.’

Hargreaves also admits that he does now want to sign some of the lads that we have on trial at this moment as he feels they have done really well since coming in, and he feels if a deal can be done they will certainly make us stronger going forward.
