Manager Chris Hargreaves has talked of his disappointment at seeing Torquay go out of the FA Trophy to Wrexham.

The victory at this stage was well deserved for Wrexham, but that obviously didn’t take away the frustration for the gaffer and he told the Official Site.

‘We showed a bit of naivety in a ten minute spell of madness that cost. Once Wrexham got the goal and were on the front foot, it was always going to be difficult. The life of a footballer and a manager is a rollercoaster and you have got to be strong. I know how the fans wanted it and no one wants success more than me, I can tell you that much.’

Hargreaves goes on to say that the ‘disappointment is bitter’ having got this close to a Wembley trip and failed to make the hurdle but equally in a difficult season there are positives from reaching the semi final stage and we have to take those positives, learn those lessons and put them into more improvement in our league campaign now.

‘We got to the semi finals and fell short. It’s a game we’ve lost and it’s a game that we have to get over pretty quickly. No one feels sorry for you in this game, you have to dust yourself off and get going again. You have to be a realist and lift your players. I’m not going to abandon those lads, no chance, because they are trying their best and that’s all you can ask. They just fell a bit short.’

The focus now for the manager is simply on gaining as many points as we possibly can between now and the end of the campaign and see where it takes us in our hopes of getting promoted back into the Football League at the first time of asking.
