A goal from Tim sills and a penalty conversion from Nicky Wroe have given Torquay a demanding lead against the Saints at half time.

Sills scored from close range from a ball from Kevin Nicholson in the 21st minute.

Nicky Wroe slotted home in the 42nd from the spot after Tyrone Thompson was fouled by Kelvin Davis.

Southampton hae had much of the play in the first half but have failed to score from any of their 10 corners.

Torquay are playing a 4-3-3 formation with Sills, Benyon and Rendell playing in front of Mansell, Wroe and Thompson.

Scott Bevan has been in form to deny the Saints as he steps in for Michael Poke who can’y play due to a clause in his loan agreement from Southampton.
