A very positive week for the gulls with a new striker and two encouraging pre-season friendlies.

With this the last of my sunday roundups without a ‘real’ game involved all eyes are turning to the new campaign. Torquay have nearly finished their squad with new striker Scott Rendell having joined on a year long loan.
Rendell, from Peterborough United, has already made an impact scoring thw only goal of he game in a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. This was a good game and shows that the Gulls can compete at league level with Brighton playing in League 1. On Saturday Torquay played Dorchester and another 1-0 win meant another goal for a new striker. This time it was Ben Joyce who hit the back of the net for the first time since signing his contract.

However, after the club agreeing terms with Torquay, Peterborough’s Charnock turned down the contract offer. It has since been revealed that Torquay offered the player more than the club would usually and the player’s decision has been descibed as ‘nuts’ by Peterborough Director of Football, Barry Fry.

Paul Buckle has also revealed that he is searching for a new physio for the club. It appears that attempts to re-sign Damien Davey have failed and the manager is now hunting for a replacement. With regards to his own contract, Buckle instists that it wont be sorted out until every other contract is done; only then will be turn his attention to his deal.

I think i’ve covered everything from the week. If not I’ll do it next week, please e-mail me if there is any news you think I’ve overlooked which is actually interesting.

Thank you Gulls fans.
