It has been confirmed that a North American consortium have rejected the chance to take over Torquay United Football Club.

The group were originally interested in buying the club several months ago but when contacting former Chairman Mike Bateson, were told that a deal had already been struck with Chris Roberts.

Since then, the North American consortium have purchased and invested in Belgian Fourth Division side Royal Racing Football Club Montegnee.

Chris Roberts attempted to secure a link between both Torquay United and the Belgian club in hope that the Gulls would receive players in a type of ‘feeder’ club situation.

However, a deal was never agreed and then just last week Roberts contacted the North American group and asked them if they would be interested in bidding once more for Torquay United.

This offer was declined.
